Local Board on Comprehensive Sexuality Education
Talking about sexuality, relationships, consent, rights and protection through a gender-sensitive, sex-positive, intersectional and wellbeing-oriented approach is not just important – it is a real and urgent need. In Palermo, a range of people and local organisations are already responding to this need, each bringing their own expertise and perspective.
Since May 2023, we have been connecting local civil society organisations, activists, professionals and experts through the first Local Board on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Palermo. This board provides a safe space for ongoing dialogue, where participants can exchange approaches and methods, and develop coordinated, multidisciplinary actions that reflect the specific needs and complexities of the local context.
The group ensures that local realities are fully considered in both discussions and the development of activities related to sexuality and relationships education, as well as the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV).
What it does:
Participate in local discussions
on needs, solutions, shared initiatives and recommendations related to sexuality & relationships education;
Provide support to teachers and educators
in implementing CSE activities within their educational settings;
Develop manifestos
on sexuality and relationships education at both local and European levels.
