Raising children to help others
The video lecture offers explanation what is prosocial behaviour, why is it important and how it influences children`s behavioural development. The lecturer emphasizes that education for prosocial behavior and responsibility to the community is even more important in the present time. It acts as a counterbalance to the values and the relationships of neoliberal society, which cultivates the “I” culture, strengthens the connection and mutual assistance in the community, increases the well -being of people in distress, and also benefits a child who works for the benefit of others and communities.

Medvrstniško nasilje, kot ga zaznavajo učitelji in učenci osnovne šole [Bullying in Basic School: the Perspectives of Teachers and Pupils]
The main purpose of our study was to investigate how basic school pupils and teachers perceive and understand bullying. The participants in the study were 58 teachers and 396 pupils in basic school. The results indicate that both teachers and pupils perceive verbal bullying as the most frequent form of bullying compared to physical and relational bullying. Pupils report perceiving more bullying than teachers. Both pupils and teachers perceive physical and verbal bullying as more serious forms of bullying compared to relational bullying and report feeling more empathy toward victims of these two forms of bullying. In addition, teachers report that they are more willing to intervene in cases of physical and verbal bullying. There are significant differences between pupils’ and teachers’ reports of the likelihood of teachers’ interventions in cases of bullying; compared to pupils teachers report a higher likelihood of their intervention.

Bullying and peer violence among children and adolescents in residential care settings: A review of the literature
The present paper offers a review of the phenomena of bullying and peer violence among children and adolescents living in residential care settings (RCS). The review was conducted on four databases (Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO and ERIC). Findings of the 31 full-text papers included in the present work showed that bullying and peer violence involve various forms of direct and indirect attacks. While bullying in RCS involves severe and repeated aggressive actions, peer violence seems to be characterized by distinct levels of severity; i.e., low-level attacks are infrequent and isolated, whereas high level attacks may be severe and frequent. Several individual factors, such as age, gender, and length of stay in RCS were found to be associated with both bullying and peer violence. Contextual risk factors such as activities, structure and facility size, along with a residential peer culture characterized by a high level of hierarchy and a poor emotional bond between children and staff, contributed to bullying and peer violence. Furthermore, findings of the studies included in the present review showed that both perpetrators and victims manifest a number of behavioral and psychological problems. Overall, the present study offers a picture of bullying and peer violence among institutionalized children. However, distinct operationalization of constructs among studies, together with the use of different methods and measures, made comparisons among studies difficult. Future research should overcome these limitations in order to promote validity and compatibility of research in this field of study.

‘Medvrstniško nasilje v šoli’
The newest book on this topic in Slovenia. This is the second and completed edition of the book in this field and views violence in schools as a synthesizing phenomenon. The authors try to present and use different terms for actors involved in the violence – instead of bully and victim they suggest to use ‘student who experiences violence’ and ‘student who commits violence’.

Šola in medvrstniško nasilje v Sloveniji : raziskovalni pristopi, metode in metaanaliza dosedanjega raziskovanja v Sloveniji
The authors performed a meta-analysis in which they saw peer to peer violence being experienced by 33% of children and youth involved in the survey. They also show limits of meta-analysis in this field, there is also a lack of unified terms to be able to make an comaprison to other researches. Authors motivate to conduct more researches in this filed where we should think about the relationships children and youth form between each other.
